1st track for “Brute” Original Soundtrack: “Nomad”
I have just completed this six minute piece, for two reasons. One, I needed to get something done on the Brute project. Unfortunately, being short on time and needing to focus on my video tutorials – which, as a Youtube Partner, and with an existing subscriber base of people expecting such content from me, working on them right now is frankly the smarter short term move.
Which brings me to reason #2. Youtube is very picky about what kind of music Youtube partners are allowed to use in their videos. Thus, having a six minute UDK feature video in the works that needed some new music, I realized I could kill two birds with one stone, and went ahead and wrote one that I could also use in the Brute OST. Brute, if you don’t know, is a major animated project I’m undertaking and have been in pre-production on for a few years.
It needed to be somber and lonely, with a sense of grandeur in just the right spots and somewhat spartan during the rest. Depict repetition and length and hint at the edge of madness associated with being isolated for an extended period of time – hopefully without getting extremely boring.
And just as importantly, it needed to go well with a technology demo – Finally, it needed to be done lightning fast! What a challenge!
But… I think I pulled it off. It’s not “perfect”, but it’s what I meant it to be. Performed on my Roland ep7e.
